Propythium Moisturising Oil - Natural Yeast Killer
Propythium features Pythium oligandrum—a beneficial, non-pathogenic, yeast-like microorganism used topically to help with fungal/yeast skin issues in dogs, cats, and horses. Also includes medicinal-grade olive oil, vitamin E, and silica to support skin repair.
Pythium is a microscopic, algae-like organism that normally lives in soil (over 50 species identified). One of the most useful is Pythium oligandrum, found around plant roots worldwide.
It works via mycoparasitism—consuming other fungi to survive. It attacks pathogenic fungi, extracts nutrients (e.g., nitrogen and carbon), kills them in the process, then produces zoospores that actively seek more fungal targets and their spores.
Beyond mycoparasitism, P. oligandrum secretes enzymes that curb bacterial growth locally while it works. Studies indicate that, although it reduces pathogenic bacteria, it does not cause significant shifts in the host’s resident bacterial flora (Vallance et al. 2009 & 2012). When resources (yeast/fungi) are depleted, it encapsulates and leaves the area, allowing normal microflora activity to resume.
For topical fungi and yeast infections of dogs, cats, and horses—including yeasty skin, feet, and ears. Suitable for dry, sensitive, chapped, or eczema-prone skin, and for those with atopic skin conditions or allergies.
1) Direct application
- Shake bottle well.
- Dampen affected area with lukewarm water (~34 °C).
- Gently apply oil with the pads provided.
- Leave for 10 minutes, then remove excess gently.
- Reapply as needed.
2) Bath
- Shake bottle well.
- Add 1 teaspoon of oil to 1 litre of lukewarm water (~34 °C) and stir.
- Wash dog, then allow skin/coat to air dry.
- Repeat as needed.
Olea europaea (olive) oil, silica, Pythium oligandrum, tocopherol (vitamin E), Chamomilla recutita oil.
- Caution: Do not mix with other antifungal treatments.
- Storage: Keep dry at 15–25 °C. Avoid contact with other substances.

- You must first confirm with us (info@dogsfirst.ie / social media) that a return is on the way.
- The item must be unopened, unused, and undamaged.
- A receipt or proof of purchase from our store is required.
Please note: Due to the nature of pet supplements, we cannot accept returns on opened products unless there is a defect or damage.
If your item arrives damaged or you believe it’s defective:
1. Contact us at info@dogsfirst.ie within 7 days of receiving your order.
2. Please include a photo of the product and a brief description of the issue.
3. We’ll assess the claim and, if approved, will offer a replacement or full refund, including shipping.
Once your return is received and inspected, we’ll notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
- If approved, your refund will be processed and applied to your original method of payment within 5–10 business days.
- Shipping costs are non-refundable, unless the return is due to our error.
