Propythium Ear Cleaner - Natural Yeast Killer
Propythium contains Pythium oligandrum — a beneficial, non-pathogenic, algae-like microorganism that helps manage fungal and bacterial conditions. It’s designed for topical use, including in the ears of dogs, cats, and horses.
Pythium oligandrum is a microscopic, yeast-like organism that naturally lives in soil. Of over 50 known species, this one is particularly beneficial — found around plant roots worldwide.
It works through mycoparasitism, meaning it consumes other fungi for survival. It attacks harmful fungi, extracts nutrients (such as nitrogen and carbon), kills them in the process, and then produces zoospores that actively seek out additional fungal targets and their spores.
P. oligandrum also has antibacterial properties — it secretes enzymes that inhibit bacterial growth in the area while it works. Studies show that, although it reduces pathogenic bacteria, it does not disrupt the natural bacterial flora (Vallance et al., 2009 & 2012). When resources (yeast or fungi) are depleted, it encapsulates and leaves the area, allowing normal microflora activity to resume.

The Propythium Ear Cleaner combines the antifungal and antibacterial power of Pythium oligandrum with pharmaceutical-grade olive oil. It helps relieve dogs, cats, and horses from symptoms associated with fungal or bacterial ear infections while gently cleansing and moisturizing the ear canal.
Application: Apply Propythium Ear Cleaner directly into the ear canal for as long as symptoms persist (typically no more than five days). Afterward, it can be used occasionally as a moisturizing ear cleaner.
Instructions:
- Shake the bottle well — sediment is harmless and normal.
- Pump a few drops of the product into the ear.
- Gently massage around the ear to ensure even absorption.
- Wipe the ear clean with gauze.
- Caution: Do not mix with other antifungal treatments.
- Storage: Keep dry at 15–25 °C. Avoid contact with other substances.
- Warning: For veterinary use only. Keep away from children. Not for oral use.

Hi Catherine, we are so sorry to hear that this did not work for your dog. Just to check, was the issue in the ears confirmed as yeast? If not, this is very likely why Propythium Ear Cleaner did not work as it is specifially for yeast issues, your dogs issues may be bacterial, which may require veterinary medication. Ive had my rescue retriever for 4 months. Tried normal ear cleaner but didn't clear the brown waxy discharge so I thought I will see if Conor has anything for it. Well these drops have been amazing! Just as you said the ear shaking got a bit worse as the brown waxy stuff starting breaking up. Put in twice a day and wiped out with cotton wool as much as I could. After 4-5 days looking much better and cleaner. Going to keep going a bit longer until its all gone and now started on probiotics with his raw food to help his gut. Thanks so much, great product !

I've been through various ear cleaners for yeasty ears. Some work but take ages. Propythium works immediately. Just a few drops and the dark gunk starts to come out. I put a cone on though as my girl really started to scratch as the yeast breaks down and comes out. On day 4 now and one ear completely clean and other nearly there. Very pleased with this product.
